GFest 2023 | Gnosall Festival
Tue 18th July 2023
18:00
Grosvenor Centre
Join us behind the Grosvenor Centre for the formal opening of The Sensory Garden, followed by a library open evening and junior treasure hunt around Gnosall.
On Tuesday 18th July, a new sensory garden, created from community funding and a private donation, will be officially opened.
Sensory gardens include features and plants that stimulate senses through touch, sight, scent, taste and hearing. These type of gardens are popular with, and beneficial to, both children and adults, especially those who have sensory processing issues, including autism and other disabilities.
For children who do not suffer from a disability, a sensory garden is beneficial in that it is a fun educational tool that allows them to explore and learn about their senses and nature.
While in the garden, people are encouraged to touch, smell, taste, and generally interact with the environment around them. For people with dementia, sensory gardens can help keep them calm and interested; they can offer stimulation directly related to memory retention and social interaction.
The garden is located next to the library in Gnosall, on the field behind the Grosvenor Centre and is open to anyone to use. It is wheelchair friendly and has seating suitable for wheelchair use.
Why not pay a visit, it has been created for local people to use and enjoy – bring a picnic, grab a book from the library and enjoy the garden and its tranquillity.
Come and get your bike security marked!
Our friendly police community support officer (PCSO) will be on hand between 6:00pm - 7:30pm to mark and register your bike to deter thefts.
We encourage you to bring along your bike to this event and our PCSO will security mark it free of charge.
